Curriculum Review Contest

They are having a contest over at Successful Homeschooling. They are looking to expand the number of curriculum reviews and so are giving away Usborne books. Take a look here.

The First Week

Last week was our first one for this year. I have to admit that we've gotten off to a rocky start. Coming back from summer vacation is always hard, but things will get smoother as we adjust to our new schedule; it always does. On a positive note, all the curriculum choices appear to be winners, and that's always nice!

The Beginning...

I am starting this blog to share our homeschool adventures with our family and friends. I hope to write about our plans, interesting finds and our progress. Today also happens to be our first school day for this year. I hope to get our year-at-a-glance plans up soon.

To give you some history, the first homeschool book I read was the original edition of The Well Trained Mind. I had done some research online prior to that and classical homeschooling really seemed to click with our thoughts on how our child's (at that time there was only 1) education should be like. I've since read many more books, including the revised (2004 edition of WTM), Charlotte Mason Companion and The Latin-Centered Curriculum (1st edition), and am currently reading The Latin-Centered Curriculum (2nd edition) and Climbing Parnassus. I'd classify us as an eclectic classical with some Charlotte Mason ideas simmering on the back burner.

Right now, this blog is pretty sparse, but I hope to continuously add to it as I get bits of time. Thanks for stopping by!
